Local first
We're starting in Dublin because that's where we're from. We know the city, we know its providers, and we're building something that works for Irish people — not a US template dropped on an .ie domain.
About
We built Boxed Off because booking a local service in Dublin was still a mess of Instagram DMs, Revolut payment requests, and hoping someone shows up when they said they would.
The problem we're solving
Dublin has thousands of talented independent service providers — nail techs, hairdressers, gardeners, cleaners, handymen. They're good at what they do. What they're not good at — and shouldn't have to be — is chasing payments, managing no-shows, or competing with platforms that take 25% of every booking.
On the consumer side, the problem is trust. Finding someone good meant either a personal recommendation or a gamble. Reviews were on Facebook pages that hadn't been updated in two years. Prices were "message for a quote." Cancellations happened the morning of.
Boxed Off fixes both sides at once. Consumers get verified providers, real reviews, transparent pricing, and a payment that's protected until the job is done. Providers get a full calendar, instant payouts, and not a single euro taken from what they charge.
What we stand for
We're starting in Dublin because that's where we're from. We know the city, we know its providers, and we're building something that works for Irish people — not a US template dropped on an .ie domain.
Service workers in Ireland already face enough pressure. The least we can do is make sure what they charge is what they get. No platform tax on the people doing the actual work.
Escrow payments, verified ID, real reviews that can only come from real bookings. Not because we're trying to be impressive — because it's the only way this works long-term.
No fake urgency. No hidden fees. No "only 2 slots left!" when there are 20. The fee is shown before you pay. Every time. No exceptions.
"A city where getting something done doesn't require a personal recommendation, and where the person doing it is paid fairly, immediately, and without question."
Why Dublin first
Generic marketplace platforms fail in local markets because they don't understand the demand or the supply. We know Dublin postcodes, Dublin service norms, and Dublin pricing. We're seeding quality providers manually before opening to the public.
Cork, Galway, and Limerick are planned — but only once Dublin is done properly. We'll follow demand, not a VC's expansion checklist.
